Gian Paolo Tomasi was born in Milan in 1959, from 1974 to 1978 he attended art school and became assistant Gianluigi Gusmaroli. In 1983 creates the poliartcolor company specializing in photo retouching and processing and cooperates with major advertising agencies: Armando Testa Mark Erikson, Publics, Lintas, TPR. In 1988 he patented the phototransfer innovative printing process and works for masters of photography such as Franco Fontana, Mario Giacomelli, Oliviero Toscani, Fabrizio Ferri, Giovanni Gastel. In 1993 exports Phototransfer in Paris and works for Sebastian Salgado, John Batho, Lucien Clergue. In 1994 he moved to New York and worked for masters as Irving Penn, Richard Avedon, Annie Leibovitz. In 2000 he made the print campaign for Olivetti, created on behalf of GQ-Conde Nast-the first seven virtual models for the communication of a fashion brand. His artistic career is characterized by close attention to the quotation of painters which incorporates the concept of a whim, creating new mental landscapes, combining shots of Venice, which he does with images of paintings by Canaletto, Guardi, Bellotto.
In 2005, Giacinto Di Pietrantonio invites him to the final exhibition of the XIV Quadrennial of Rome, section off Tema, was invited to the 1st International Festival of Photography in Brescia artist curator Sarenco. Join the Cow Parade International Festival Florence 2005 realizing a cow “landscape painter” in size then choose from Vanity Fair Magazine. In 2006 he had a solo “Visions of Earth” at the Elleni Art Gallery of Bergamo, cured by Omar Pedrini. In January 2007, he participated in the first Biennale of Malindi in Kenya where Tomasi spent many months of the year and where he is also a study. In January 2008 he took part in the final of ‘8th edition of Cairo’s prize to Palace of Permanente in Milan and at the International Biennial of Photography in Brescia, exposing the Great Mile Castle of Brescia with Vanessa Beecroft. In 2012 participated again at the Biennale of Malindi in Kenya, the project effettobibbia 2012 Exercises Vision cured by Don Giuliano Zanchi in collaboration with the Fondazione Adriano Bernareggi of Bergamo and is invited by Sabrina Zannier to participate in Maravee Eros eleventh edition with solo exhibition at the Visionary of Udine.
